Coaching

Whether you’re looking to grow into a new role, to forge better relations with (Dutch) colleagues or your boss, to improve your ability to handle stress (or perhaps just to say ‘no’ more often)… whatever the case, the bottom line is you simply want to be able to function better and with more enjoyment.

Coaching can help you – in your work and/or in your private life – by enabling you to:

  • set concrete, inspiring goals
  • (learn to) make free choices
  • remove inner obstacles to good functioning
  • strengthen your competencies
  • recognize – and make use of – your potentials
  • make firm agreements with yourself

This leads to sustainable change and improvement in your functioning. Workwise and lifewise you start to do what you really want and deal with problems more easily – staying in balance and drawing more from your wellspring of intuition and creativity.

How we do it

In an initial consultation we map out your situation and your particular issue. We set goals for the Coaching – goals which inspire you – so that we can then get straight to work.

The coaching has a very practical character. Your real life events are brought into each session and in between you put into practice the insights you’ve gained.

During this process, themes and connections that are important for you come naturally to the fore, allowing you to effectively deal with them.

You will call not only on your thinking and feeling capacities, you will call forth your creativity and imagination. Around the core consultation we may work with (guided) visualisations, drawing and creative writing exercises.

A Coaching process typically comprises 5-10 sessions, spaced 2-3 weeks apart. You will be encouraged to adopt an active approach and will regularly receive a homework assignment to do.

The Coaching is always customized to your unique individuality and situation. That can mean more or fewer sessions are needed; we will agree that together beforehand (together with your employer, where appropriate).

Typical issues for Coaching:

1 I have the feeling that cultural differences sometimes hold me back at the Dutch organization where I work (other styles of communicating, unwritten rules which I’m not aware of?). I want to learn how to function effectively and successfully here, to be able to recognize and get around the cultural differences as well as make more positive use of them.

2 I’d like to be able to handle difficult situations at work better, for example feel confident enough to say ‘no’ more often.

3 I recently took on a new job which makes greater demands on me. I need someone independent who I can talk to and bounce stuff off as I grow into the new role.

4 I want to be more efficient and effective with my time and energy so I can regain control over the reins of my life.

5 I want to have more presence and greater influence in conversations and meetings.

6 I’d like to be able to get on better with a colleague/my boss.
